My first experience with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones was in Richmond, VA, when they opened for DMB. After the concert, I realized for the first time that playing the banjo was cool. Well... ok... I thought it was pretty cool when that guy on Hee-Haw played it too, but I was too young to know any better.
